Lassen County California Mortgage Loans

Lassen County is just 80 miles north of Reno, Nevada. Like many northern California towns, Lassen County was populated by miners in search of gold in the mid 1800’s. An alternate pass to the Donner pass was sought, Peter Lassen, a Danish gold miner, was one of the first to explore this area which was later named for him.

By 1880 many settlements were established in the area and the Nevada-California-Oregon Railway began operation and lasted until 1927. This was the longest narrow line in the nation of the 20th century. In this time, the railroad tapped into the lumber industry in Lassen.

Named for the former congressman, Harold T. “Bizz” Johnson, the Biz Johnson Trail has 29 miles of trail that runs through scenic forest by foot or on horseback. California’s second largest lake, Eagle Lake, has miles of gorgeous shoreline for beachgoers and campers alike.
If learning is your game, the Susanville Railroad Depot is for you. Built in 1927 by the Southern Pacific Railroad, this site lets you step back in history where you can view photographs of the railroad and logging trains that passed through many years ago. You can also learn interesting facts about the Fruit Growers Association, which we know today as Sunkist as well as the Red River Lumber Company. Roop’s Fort/William H. Pratt Museum is the oldest structure in the town of Susanville. Visitors can see exhibits chronicling the last 170 years of Susanville’s rich history in Lassen County.
